Anna Hauser with the children
But now the hosts of Stanglwirt were facing problems Anna could never have anticipated. The new kitchen cost much more than they expected. In June of 1964, a few days before solstice, she did not feel well and complained of pain. When her condition became radically worse, Anna was brought to the hospital in Innsbruck, to the sanatorium at the Kettenbrücke. Anna Hauser died at the young age of 49 on June 21st 1964, when the last solstice bonfire burned out at Wilder Kaiser.
