High-life at Kitzbühel’s most traditional mountain hut party

It is the biggest après-ski party in the Hahnenkamm weekend: the veal sausage party here at the Stanglwirt. The legendary party classic took place for the 22nd time together with 2,000 friends of the hotel, regular guests, ski legends, celebrity guests and the cult band Opus.

As is traditional on the evening before the Streif descent, the Stanglwirt landlord Balthasar Hauser shouted out “The sausages are served!” and marked the start of the 22nd veal sausage party with the 400 year old Stanglwirt bell. This year, the Stanglwirt hosts Balthasar and Magdalena Hauser celebrated the official opening with none other than Mario Adorf, Niki Lauda, Andrea Berg, Gerry Friedle, Stephan Eberharter, Fritz Strobl, Alfons Schuhbeck and king of the veal sausage, Toni Holnburger. 2,000 guests celebrated into the early hours of the morning. There’s no question about it: with a traditional ambience, traditional dress code and Tyrolean and Bavarian treats on offer, the 22nd veal sausage party was one of the most traditional hut parties of the Streif weekend!
Celebrating with friends
Mario Adorf sampled the veal sausages in the legends lounge together with Andrea Berg, Gerry Friedle, the ski legends Karl Schranz, Fritz Huber and Hias Leitner and hosts Balthasar and Magdalena Hauser. Monica Ivancan (7 months) and Stanglwirt junior chef and organiser of the veal sausage party Maria Hauser-Lederer (6 months) proudly showed off their baby bumps! Joseph Vilsmaier, Otto Retzer, Norbert Blecha, Kristina Sprenger, Mark Keller, Melanie Scheriau and Rolf Scheider were in attendance and celebrated with the crowd. A total of 8,000 veal sausages were served up with 3,500 pretzels and 150 kilos of sweet mustard!

Celebrations were relaxed in the regular guests’ area and featured Alessandra Pocher, Wolfgang Fellner, Hans Mahr, Werner Baldessarini, Wolfgang Ambros, Mike Süsser sowie Leonhard Stock, Marc Girardelli, Gregor Bloéb and Martin Krug. Sven Hannawald and his partner Alena Gerber, Marie Nasemann, Verena Kerth, Michaela Dorfmeister and Michael Gross danced to the sounds of Opus.
Opus for a good atmosphere and good cause
The Austrian cult band Opus warmed up the 2,000 guests with hits like ‘Live is Life’ or ‘Flying high’, using every trick in the book. The Austro rockers created a good atmosphere and played for a good cause. The performance saw Opus and the Stanglwirt team up to support the Karlheinz Böhms Äthiopienhilfe charity to provide relief to Ethiopia. Some of the fees will go towards building a new school in Ethiopia. “Opus are perfect for the traditional veal sausage party with their party classics,” says Maria Hauser-Lederer. “The band also share our family’s commitment to the ‘Menschen für Menschen’ charity organisation. We are very passionate about being able to help with the building of another school in collaboration with Opus”. It was this long-standing commitment to ‘Menschen für Menschen’ which brought the Hauser family and Opus together. The Hauser family have already financed the construction of 7 fountains and a school in Ethiopia through donation campaigns and proceeds from the sale of the hotel’s own spring water. Opus have also financed a school in Ethiopia from the proceeds of a charity concert. “We got to know Opus through this and are very pleased to work together to finance the next school,” says Maria Hauser-Lederer.

Hearty rock music from Austria
In addition to the Austrian cult band Opus, the cult Oktoberfest bands Sumpfkröten and the Salzburger Hodalumpn also performed at the 22nd veal sausage party. The legendary Schichtl theatre from the Oktoberfest was also present throughout the evening for the first time.
