Long-term commitment to "Menschen für Menschen" (People for People)

The Hauser family's long-standing commitment to Karlheinz Böhm's Ethiopia Aid is now bearing fruit permanently. Recently, the Hauser family travelled to Ethiopia to see for themselves the work done by "Menschen für Menschen". This was on occasion of the opening ceremony for the Gille Wedessa Lower Primary School. The old, derelict school hardly had the bare essentials. Now the new school, constructed according to the tried and tested model, was officially opened. The fund-raising campaign, initiated by the Hauser family, as well as the sale of on-site spring water provided the financing for the school, which gives more than 600 children the opportunity to learn in a pleasant and clean setting. Because education is the key to development and a future. This is particularly true for one of the poorest countries on earth such as Ethiopia, where 40 % of children have no opportunity to go to school. The guests from Tyrol received an exuberant welcome by the children of the Lower Primary School. The visitors had also prepared a little surprise for this festive occasion and played some Tyrolean traditional parlour music to bring some alpine glow to the Ethiopian highlands.
Water – the foundation of life
As part of their journey, the Hauser family also put in a stop for the opening ceremony of a well, during which Balthasar Hauser tested the quality of the water himself. Because access to clean drinking water has a positive effect on all aspects of life: people fall ill less often and child mortality in particular drops, agricultural yields can be increased by irrigation and especially women and girls profit from a water source close to the village, as the time they save from the shorter distance they have to cover daily to supply their family with water, they can use to go to school or attend training courses.

Tyrolean spring water for Etiopia
Water was also the source of the commitment of the Hauser family and financed the well that was opened during their journey. Stanglwirt Balthasar Hauser wanted to convey the significance of spring water to his guests and, seven years ago, elevated the vital liquid from an everyday product to a premium product. The spring water from the on-site "Kaiser-spring" then began to be served in carafes made specifically for the purpose, and a "biblical tithe" of the proceeds – a carafe of "Kaiser-Water" costs 1 Euro – now benefits Karlheinz Böhm's Ethiopia Aid. Water is thus not just the foundation of life, but also the basis for the cooperation of the host family with "Menschen für Menschen". In subsequent years, the Hauser family, together with its business partners, friends and guests, became involved in numerous events and fund-raising campaigns for the projects in Ethiopia. Over the course of the cooperation, enough donations were collected to build a total of seven wells in Ethiopia. This long-standing assistance will start its next round at the beginning of December under the motto: "The mountain is boiling"!
Kick-off event for "Celebrity chefs for Africa" in Austria
On 2 Dezember, the Hauser family will host the Austrian kick-off event for the "Celebrity chefs for Africa" campaign at the Stanglwirt. Together with Mike Süsser, TV- and award-winning chef and "Menschen für Menschen"-ambassador, as well as six Austrian top-restaurateurs, an exclusive gala dinner will be held under the motto "The mountain is boiling", during which each of the attending celebrity chefs will surprise the guests with an exquisite course. All of the evening's proceeds – bookings can be made for a donation of EUR 185.00 per person – will benefit "Menschen für Menschen". The donation is tax-deductible. The patrons of the "Celebrity chefs for Africa" campaign are chef of the century Eckart Witzigmann, his daughter Véronique Witzigmann, as well as the renowned delicatessen and truffle merchant Ralf Bos. The gala dinner at the Stanglwirt is the kick-off for the Austrian-wide initiative, in which every restaurateur, be it the landlord around the corner or award-winning chef, can participate in with individual campaigns. The sky's the limit here: be it to hold a big event together with colleagues for the benefit of "Menschen für Menschen" or a small-scale promotion in your own restaurant; everyone can take part with their own ideas, because every contribution counts and everyone can help!

The Hauser family would like to sincerely thank all its guests, friends and business partners, who took an active part in the project "Wilder Kaiser School", and who contribute significantly to our charitable commitments by their daily consumption of our "Kaiser-Water".
