Lots of fun at the Kitz’and Friends Triathlon in Kitzbühel
Quite a number of teams headed to the start of the annual Friends Triathlon in Kitzbühel. Of course a highly motivated team from the Stanglwirt was there too, comprising extreme sportsmen Axel Naglich, Sepp Hechenberger alias 'Kaser Sepp', who makes the tasty Stangl mountain cheese on the 'Stangl-Alm' and who is also a longstanding friend of the hotel, and professional marathon runner, Gerhard Hartmann, who organises and runs our runners' weeks here in the Stanglwirt. Bernadette Steinböck, in action as team leader, organized, motivated tirelessly and was by our athletes' side providing support as a coach.
Axel Naglich started fully motivated and full of vim and vigour in the first swim section ... he really gave it everything! Sepp Hechenberger then caught up with a few participants of the opposing teams on the bike leg and Gerhard Hartmann also left many of the competition behind him, so we were eventually able to be delighted with a superb ranking among the 20 teams. We are very satisfied with the result in mid-table, and are gearing ourselves up for next year, when we are of course aiming for a top 3 position!
It should also be said that many of the opposing teams were really top-class athletes; some even had pro Triathletes in their team ... so we are more than satisfied; since the maxim of the Friends Triathlon is 'Taking part is everything!'
