Re-energise in the Stanglwirt – the recipe for success
Vitali Klitschko 'daheim' beim Stanglwirt
‘My homeland is the Ukraine, my home is Germany – but it’s in the Stanglwirt I feel like I’m at home’, chuckles 2 metre giant and boxing champ Vitali Klitschko. Following the traditions of old, the WBC world boxing champion, regular guest and friend of the hotel, together with his training team, consisting of manager, trainers, sparring partners and physiotherapist, prepared himself during a five-week training camp here with us in the Stanglwirt for his World Championship fight on 19th March in Lanxess Arena in Cologne, against challenger Odlanier Solis. However, Klitschko didn’t stay in the main building of our bio-hotel; no, he stayed up high in our traditional Hüttling-Moos "mountain chalet" at 1000 metres altitude, and got himself into the best mental and physical form thanks to the fresh mountain air, healthy food, spring water and lots of cross-training. ‘Alone in the lodge I had the peace and quiet that I needed to mentally prepare myself for such an important fight mental and to work on new strategies’, said Klitschko, ‘and the hotel down below provided the perfect training conditions.’ This courteous boxing pro has been training here with us in the Stanglwirt since 2003. It provides the ideal setting for him to switch off and fully commit himself to his training.

As nice as ever
Converting the tennis hall to his own boxing camp has almost become routine for Balthasar Hauser. “As a host family we do everything so Vitali & Wladimir Klitschko and their team always feel like they are at home here with us”, that’s what the Stanglwirt has it in mind. For years Vitali and his brother Wladimir too haven’t just spent a lot of their own personal time here with us in Going, they regularly prepare for their big fights here too. ‘The Stanglwirt and the Wilder Kaiser really intrigue me’, says 112 kilogram boxing star Vitali. ‘It is an energetic place. The mountains, the air, the ‘Kaiserwasser’. The milk, the cheese and the friendly people do wonders for me.’ That’s why the 39-year old is laid-back and relaxed during his preparations here with us. Vitali sometimes even surprises guests when he appears at the breakfast buffet and – in a down-to-earth manner – signs his autograph for our younger hotel guests. A real star – within touching distance. That’s our friend Vitali!
We congratulate our dear friend and regular guest Dr. Vitali Klitschko on his World Championship victory in the heavy weight boxing class and thank him for his loyalty to our hotel!
