As the first of the Stanglwirt children, Richard, the eldest of the four siblings, took responsibility for his parents’ business. Worked in leading hotels in Italy and also in French-speaking Switzerland upon completing commercial and tourist qualifications & receiving a diploma from a private hospitality college. In 1996 he had to make a decision - on the one hand he could begin a managerial post for the luxury chain Kempinski, in a hotel in Moscow, yet on the other, at the rapidly growing Stanglwirt someone was urgently needed to organise administrative matters. Richard Hauser: “Add to this the fact that my at that time elderly grandmother on my mother’s side was in need of care, so I decided on the Stanglwirt.“ He quickly built up the organisation, which today forms the economic backbone of the hotel, successfully completed his studies to become a Business Adviser and set up his own consulting company, which successfully catered for hotel projects in Croatia with 2700 beds, amongst others. For the Stanglwirt's son it was in no way a matter of course that he would stay with his parents’ business.

Deciding on the Stanglwirt:
The decision came only in 1998. At the time he recognised that the property, which had grown considerably, was still much too small. „We need suites and wellness facilities“, was his conclusion. His father Balthasar was a little unenthusiastic to start with: „It took me a lifetime to build all this, and now it’s too small by half.“ Eventually he trusted in his son’s advice and built the „Kaiserbogen“ – a decision which was spot-on. Since then, the number of employees has more than doubled, turnover has increased three-fold, and the four-star hotel has become a five-star resort. The Stanglwirt is today one the 20 hotels in all of Europe to have the highest annual turnover. And while other tourist businesses are suffering from the crises in the economy, the Stanglwirt is revelling in its sound financial strength, solid equity capital and a level of capacity which is at capacity limit. In the background Richard Hauser continues to work on structures. In the meantime he also works as legally sworn expert at the county court in Innsbruck. How does he find the time? „A mole doesn’t need to be told how to dig holes. And a business-man doesn't need to be told how to work.“ At the Stanglwirt too he remains at the helm. He has transformed this former sole proprietorship into a limited company, set standards and ensures that the hotel makes use of full agricultural production. „Every blade of grass in the Stanglhof grounds is enjoyed by guests, in some shape or form.“ Organic, sustainable, authentic. Since, in spite of cost-consciousness and process optimisation, Richard Hauser also remains true to the Stanglwirt motto: being independent from travel agencies and marketing chains; the best of quality; and showing the Stanglwirt as a cultural asset. „Our USP“ says Richard Hauser is that “with us each and every Euro profit is one hundred percent reinvested. My father’s concepts make the Stanglwirt unique. We can’t, and don’t want to, make money from each and every sector of the business - and we must always be prepared to learn: from our guests, from nature, from our staff.“
