20th anniversary of the Weißwurstparty

The Stanglwirt hosts Balthasar and Magdalena Hauser together with Niki Lauda, Alfons Schuhbeck and the inventor of the white sausage party, Toni Holnburger, declared the 20th party open to the striking of the 400 year old Stanglwirt clock. Gerry Friedle aka DJ Ötzi and Hans Mahr was singing ‘Ein Stern’ with Balthasar Hauser. Stephan Eberharter, Fritz Strobl and Günther Mader all made mention of Hans Grugger. DFB Sports Director Matthias Sammer and his wife Karin sampled the cardamom chilli white sausages created especially for the anniversary party by Alfons Schuhbeck. Jewellery designer Alessandra Pocher exchanged ideas about the latest trends with organiser of the white sausage party Maria Hauser – in a brand new Stanglwirt Dirndl dress produced by the traditional firm Gössl and which she had designed herself. Dorian Steidl performed throughout the evening. And the Spider Murphy Gang rocked this traditional Hahnenkamm race hut party: after ‘Schickeria’, there was no stopping the 2,000 guests and Stanglwirt fans from dancing and singing together in the Lipizzaner riding hall, which had been converted into a traditional ski hut, complete with panoramic views of the Kitzbühel mountains.

To mark the anniversary of this classic party in-front of the Hahnenkamm descent, numerous celebrities attended including Prince Leopold of Bavaria, Governor of South Tyrol Luis Durnwalder and Governor of Tyrol Günther Platter as well as Norbert Blecha and Leila Schlereth, Gabriel Barylli and Sylvia Leifheit, Werner and Cathrin Baldessarini, Uschi Glas and Dieter Hermann, Sylvia Klose, Jessica Hinterseer and Timo Scheider, Prof. Werner Mang, Johanna Klum, Monica Ivancan, Helene von Damm and Prof. Jürgen Wilke and many others, all of them long-standing friends of the hotel.

Landlord Balthasar Hauser and Toni Holnburger, responsible for sampling more than 5,000 white sausages, set off on a voyage of the history of the Hahnenkamm race and legendary white sausage party under the motto of ‘Back to the source’. Hahnenkamm winners and many other sporting legends were honoured as a tribute to the good old days. Karl Schranz, Franz Klammer and Hannes and Edith Trinkl as well as skiing legends Hias Leitner, Fritz Huber and Annemarie Moser-Pröll joined in the white sausage party celebrations to mark the anniversary of this event which started out 20 years ago with just Balthasar Hauser, Toni Holnburger and a handful of skiers.

“I’m here because of the best white sausage in Kitzbühel,” says Niki Lauda, a fan of the Bavarian speciality. “A good white sausage remains a good white sausage,” says Alfons Schuhbeck, playing his cards close to his chest. Butcher Toni Holnburger adds: “A bit of champagne in one, a bit of white beer in the other – it tastes great”. Matthias Sammer: “I like to holiday with my family at the Stanglwirt and have close ties with the Hauser family – so of course I had to attend the 20th white sausage party!” And Gerry Friedle: “The Stanglwirt is a traditional hotel 364 days a year. And on one day, like today, it’s packed with action. I like the Stanglwirt; I enjoy coming here on any day!”

Traditional rock music & partying into the early hours
“The Spider Murphy Gang stands for Bavarian dialect combined with rocky party music to sing along to – for all the generations! They are THE cult live band. I am very happy to have found such a fitting authentic main act to reflect the motto of our anniversary white sausage party in the form of Günther Sigl and his band,” says Event Manager and Junior Chef at the Stanglwirt, Maria Hauser. In addition to the Spider Murphy Gang, the rocking highlight of the party with their lively rhythms just like they used to be played 20 years ago, the cult Oktoberfest band Blechblos’n and the Hermes House Band provided a fitting ambience at the 20th white sausage party until the early hours of the morning.
