In July 2011 our Lipizzaner stock became one treasure richer: foal Rodesia continues the lineage of the 'million stallion' Pluto Verona, with whom the first private Lipizzaner lineage in Austria was created.
At the beginning of July under the watchful eye of a vet, stud farm manager Anna Widder and Stanglwirt's Balthasar Hauser, our Lipizzaner foal Rodesia came into the world. Her dark brown coat and clumsy demeanour, is not at all reminiscent of the elegance of the sophisticated Lipizzaners. Only the white forehead is indicative of the descent of this eagerly anticipated offspring. Rodesia, foal of the mare Roulette, is the great-granddaughter of the 'million stallion' Pluto Verona, from whom the success story of our Lipizzaner lineage stems. Since 1985 we have been the owners of the first private Lipizzaner breed in Austria. Stallion Pluto Verona, who was trained by Johnannes Hamminger, today Master of the Horse at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, has provided lots of new blood and in his 36 years has left behind a great legacy. We have a total of 32 horses at the Stanglwirt today, of which 22 are Lipizzaners which we have bred ourselves.
Two horses, among them the pony Susi, are housed in the Stanglwirt's children's farm. For fans of riding and all those who would like to be, the Stanglwirt has a wide range of riding opportunities and courses on offer. During a stay in the Stanglwirt your own horses can even be housed in the guest horse boxes, including feed and bedding, for 28 Euro per day.
