The Stanglwirt is a pioneer in the eco hotel sector, which is why the requisite energy for the recently opened wellness extension has been obtained in the most environmentally-friendly way possible.
Since the hotel has a large reservoir of ground water, we opted to use the thermal ground water. The advantages of this technology, which is still very much in its infancy, are obvious – the energy generated is renewable and is available right on the hotel doorstep – saving on transport and costs. The facility is also highly efficient. With the 1 kW of electricity used for the compression, 4 kW heat is produced. By using thermal ground water, the Stanglwirt is saving around 1000 litres of heating oil every day.
In accordance with our needs, functionally efficient; an original and an intelligent solution, the heating facilities have been designed in such a way that they have dual use. Thanks to a sophisticated system the cooled water is used to control the temperature in conference rooms, food stores and offices. It was a great compliment to us that Arnold Schwarzenegger even mentioned the exemplary heating facilities in the Stanglwirt at the R20 environmental conference in Vienna!
Thermal heat pump
Using thermal ground water In this energy recovery method, the water is extracted to make energy using thermal heat pumps. Thermal energy is produced thanks to alternating compression and relaxation. Electrical energy is required for compression; however this is only a small section of the energy obtained.
