Summit meeting in the Stanglwirt
Jean Claude Juncker – Balthasar Hauser – Václav Klaus
President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean Claude Juncker both holidayed at the same time in the Stanglwirt with their wives and were met with a cordial reception, accompanied by Bundesmusikkapelle Going. Host and Stanglwirt landlord Balthasar Hauser welcomed both statesmen and spoke of his great joy of such a high-ranking visit. That the Stanglwirt has a harmonising effect was demonstrated thus, since these otherwise totally militant Prime Ministers got very well together and had very cordial discussions with one another. Both statesmen took the opportunity to organise a walk themselves. After a good Schnapps from Goinger Marketenderinnen, the ‘summit meeting of the statesmen’ enjoyed a cosy get-together in the traditional Stanglwirt inn.
The statesmen replenished their energy stores at the foot of the Wilden Kaiser in the Stanglwirt. Both enjoy going into the mountains in their spare time, and Jean Claude Juncker with his wife Christiane and couple Magdalena and Balthasar Hauser were soon on the ‘Wagner-Alm’ on the Wilden Kaiser.
Balthasar Hauser had this to say about the significant visit: “It was a unique moment for me – I am delighted that the Stanglwirt brings people together like this. Here both statesmen met each other as people and as guests in the first instance, not in their capacity as politicians. That’s how special friendships develop.“
