Maria Hauser’s personal motto, a quote by Goethe – “What is to touch the heart must come from the heart” – captures her personality in a single sentence. Maria is living proof that it is possible to master a multitude of responsibilities simultaneously with genuine passion, while bringing them together in perfect harmony. With tremendous dedication, the eldest daughter of Balthasar and Magdalena Hauser and mother of three has been responsible for the company’s entire communications for the past 20 years. In this role, she has played a key part in taking the Stanglwirt – a renowned organic hotel that has been well known throughout the German-speaking world for decades – onto the international stage, establishing it as a globally recognised brand.
Together with her father, Maria also takes a leading role in all matters relating to design and the continued development of the Stanglwirt. Alongside her team, she is responsible for organising all of the resort’s major events, first and foremost the legendary Weißwurstparty, held each year as part of Kitzbühel’s famous Hahnenkamm race weekend. With great passion and an innovative spirit, she has successfully developed the family business’s spa and retail concepts and launched “TGC – The Good Conscious”, her own acclaimed skincare line. Maria is passionate about authentically communicating her family’s down-to-earth values and the unique character of the Stanglwirt, shaped by her visionary father, as a genuine brand promise.
The Stanglwirt is not only her home, but also a special place of strength and inspiration where she engages with people from all over the world every day and is able to create meaningful, positive impact. She considers the close bond within her family and the harmonious collaboration with her siblings in the family business a true blessing. With deep gratitude, she continues on a path that demonstrates how leading a company with sincerity and heart can result in exceptional success – while naturally attracting like-minded people who share those same values.
Her career journey: Even as a child, Maria enthusiastically supported her father during planning meetings. At the age of just 13, for example, she contributed ideas to the design of what was then the world’s first children’s farm. She also assisted in the kitchen and helped the housekeeping team in the family business. After completing a number of internships at renowned hotels in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy and Spain, Maria followed her desire to explore the wider world after graduating from school. In Sydney, Australia, she studied Tourism and Hospitality Business Administration at one of the world’s leading hospitality schools. Following graduation, she moved directly to California, USA, where she joined San Diego’s only Leading Hotel. There, she worked her way up from trainee to Special Event Manager, organising lifestyle and society events for as many as 3,000 guests.
When the position of Assistant to the Management became available at the Stanglwirt in 2006, Maria felt the time had come to say goodbye to life abroad and return home. Despite her extensive experience in international luxury hospitality, she deliberately began in an assistant role, determined to prove herself through hard work and performance within her family’s business as well.
Today, Maria is one of the Stanglwirt’s key driving forces. With an instinctive feel for the zeitgeist and a highly creative mindset, she continually develops new concepts and ideas that inspire and delight guests. She strongly believes in collaboration and in treating others with appreciation and respect on equal terms – whether guests, employees or partners.
True to her philosophy of life – and alongside her most important role as a young mother to Leni, Anna and Elias – Maria plays a central role in continuing to develop the Stanglwirt together with her family, with humility, foresight and a strong sense of responsibility, ensuring the family business continues to thrive for generations to come.
