The Stanizel is a traditional Austrian pastry that impresses with its distinctive shape and delicate taste. These crispy pastry cones are often served with creamy fillings or fresh fruit and are popular with young and old alike. Their name is derived from the tapered shape of the cone, which used to be offered mainly at fairs and festivals.

1. beat the eggs with the sugar until frothy
2. lightly mix in the flour until the batter is creamy and soft, but no longer runny
3. spread several thin circles on a greased baking tray using a template (approx. 10 cm in diameter)
4. bake in a hot oven at 200°C for a few minutes until the dough is golden yellow
5. shape the stanizel while still hot and leave to cool
6. then fill with fruit to taste and sweetened whipped cream
