Because it has always taken such an exceptionally sustainable approach to food, the Stanglwirt now qualifies as a partner of the renowned "Green Chefs" Association.

Our head chef Thomas Ritzer takes on the role of "Green Chef" for us and will continue to put the "green" Stanglwirt philosophy into practice in our kitchen in future!

As a "Green Chefs" partner, we make the following commitments which have always been high priorities for us ...

  • To handle food with respect. "Green Chefs" use up all their food as much as possible and avoid waste right from the start.
  • To buy locally. By buying in this way, Green Chefs support regional identities, diversity, short transport routes and local producers.
  • To be environmentally aware. "Green Chefs" ensure that their actions have as little impact as possible on the environment. They strive for low CO2 emissions, short transport routes, low energy consumption and little waste.
  • To provide fair working conditions. This is the basic requirement for good teamwork and great food. For "Green Chefs" it goes without saying that they offer a steady income, sociable working hours, and treat other people respectfully in every way.

Taking a sustainable approach to nature has been the top priority at the Stanglwirt for decades!

Much of our food is produced on the hotel's own 100-hectare farm, while the already legendary Stanglwirt alpine cheese is matured on our own pasture.

An environmentally friendly heating system which uses bark waste from nearby sawmills supplies the whole hotel complex with heat. Furthermore, the Green Spa Resort Stanglwirt uses 100% CO2-free eco-energy from a small hydroelectric power station in Tyrol.

The energy supply for the new wellness worlds is based on natural alpine spring water from our own source on the Wilder Kaiser, heated by the sun and the earth. In their rooms and suites, guests can enjoy the luxury of furniture made from Arolla pine, larch and oak floors, pure sheep's wool carpets and furnishing fabrics, towels and bedlinen made from pure cotton or the finest linen.

The Stanglwirt is happy and proud that, as a certified "Green Chefs" partner, it has taken another important step towards even greater sustainability and environmental awareness.
